On the ninth day of Navaratri or Navdurga puja, the Siddhidaatri form of Durga is worshipped. She holds eight siddhis and blesses the devotees with 26 different wishes. There are Anima, Laghima, Attainment, Prakamya, Glory, Ishvita, Vashivat, Sarvakamavasayita, Omniscience, Doorsaravana, Parvakravaavana, Vak Siddhi, Kalpavrikshatva, Srishti, Sanathakarana Samarthya, Immortality, Sarvakanita, Sense, accomplishment. In the direction of Lord Brahma, Goddess Siddhidhatri transformed half of Shiva and Parvatis bodies to become Ardhanarishwar for the development of creation. They create the two parts i.e. man and woman, gods, demons, monsters, heavenly beings, ogres, cows, buffalos, predators, prey, aquatic animals, trees, damsels, snakes, Aruna and Garuda and many more. Shaligram Shala puja and Yajna services ensure that each priest takes a Sankalp before starting the puja with betel leaf, betel nut, flower and small qty. of rice. Since all priests are Kashi trained and are initiated, hence once the Sankalpa is taken individually by them, they are bound to complete the stated number Japas positively.
